The shirt as we know it has had a reinvention. Forget the staple plain white shirt. These wardrobe essentials have been given new life, and they come in the form of stripes, ruffles, drapes and knots. When Shein asked me to choose some pieces from their collection, I had to have this blue number.
It has all the summer basics down, white and blue stripes, the cold shoulder, the knot feature. I know that sounds like a lot, yet on a formal shirt it actually marries well. I especially love the knot and cold shoulder feature. It is like a mullet…but sideways…. on a shirt.
I paired this with blue jeans with a darker stripe detail. I loved that these jeans were less than £20 and after reading loads of magazines and editorials, I was beginning to mourn the skinny jean, but straight and slim fit jeans have grown on me and I am appreciating the different way in which they flatter your figure. Although if you do buy jeans from H&M do go a size up if they are not stretchy jeans, as they do their sizes quite small., and I would like to prevent you from having a body melt down just because H&M were not feeling generous in their sizing!
To accessorize and finish off the look the mules and beret in black had to do. You may have seen this beret in my previous post. It is a little out of the box for me, as the last time I donned a hat I was probably 12 and forced to do so by my mum for a family function. I love how this beret accentuates the shirt by giving it a Parisian feel. I may be wearing this hat all summer…I may also buy a baker boy hat or is that too far?
This fun basket bag is from Zara, and the trench is from Reiss…if you haven’t invested in a wicker basket or a trench…do so now, because you will be seeing these two items everywhere this summer?
