So what are the best winter coats for 2017? Maxi, faux fur coats. Winter classics such as trenches or leopard print. Carry on reading and find out what I am currently into.
I’ve been away from the blog for a while and whilst I have been away it seems that hell has frozen over. Yes winter is finally here and although I hate the frosty sight and the covering of legs I am happy that I now get to peruse through the cosy side of my wardrobe. Coats have long been that outfit killer, and not in the good sense they drown outfits, blanket your efforts and are merely worn for practicality.
Yet recently they have taken a turn for the better. So many coats are now an extension of style and can completely make or break an outfit. A monochrome outfit is completed by a red coat that just adds that jenesequa that’s needed.
So what are my favourite winter coats this season. 2017 has not disappointed though many classics have stayed some new trends have been introduced such as the puffer. The coloured patchwork fur and the extremely cosy teddy bear coat and who can forget vinyl.
Call me crazy but if you told me years ago I would be wearing a vinyl trench coat I would have laughed you straight into the matrix…..oh how times have changed. Here I am in my H&M trench coat, full vinyl textured and trenched our. I love this coat the black colour muted out the eccentricity of the coat. It’s a statement piece in itself so I would keep anything else I wear to a minimum.
The leopard coat is another winter classic. It’s an edgy classic though, I love the print and although wild it’s become a staple winter coat. This one is from Marks and Spencer and is a size larger than my usual at a 12, yet I love the fit the Aline cut and again, how I can wear minimal muted outfits yet bring them to life with this coat.
If there ever was a classic winter / transitional coat it would be the trench coat. Surviving the test of time it’s truly been through the trenches and a classic midi-length one is what I prefer.
Finally we have the ready piece, the recently joined the crew gingham and dogtooth coats. Lovely monochrome colours that go with any outfit. I love how they look classic yet trendy. I paired mine with a miniskirt and classic white tee and ankle boots but do not be frightened and wary of this printed trend.
What will be keeping you warm this winter and which of these were your favourite?
